Chapter 1557 — How Many Sins in Your Name

Tai Yi drove out the Creators and the Ancient Gods, forcing them to leave the Ancestral Court. That was an attempt to break a scheme, the scheme of the Ancestral Court Altar. But the Third Young Master's Jade Capital Trap, he did not break. " Shen Mu drew a long breath, trying his utmost to look upon Tai Yi's deeds with detachment, to keep the Master of Miluo Palace's words from influencing his thoughts, and said softly, "Tai Yi guarded the Great Black Mountain, mending it day and night. The Great Black Mountain must be another scheme, a stowaway's scheme, holding Tai Yi fast within the mountain, forcing him to be unable to leave the Great Black Mountain, unable to leave the Ancestral Court. And Tai Yi used me to break it.

Tai Yi won my trust, gave me a willow branch from his Dao Tree, an iron bucket, and dao dew, and had me mend the Great Black Mountain in his stead, while he used the chance to slip away and do things he had never been able to do before. He left the Great Black Mountain and came to Jade Capital City. One of his purposes was to fight the Master of Miluo Palace, to test whether the Master of Miluo Palace was alive or dead, and perhaps also to learn the Master of Miluo Palace's intentions.

His other purpose was to lay a scheme of his own. So his being cast into the fourth universe was not entirely the Master of Miluo Palace's doing; it may also have been that he himself wished to return to the past. Only by returning to the past could he conveniently lay his schemes. By rights, I should have stayed on the Great Black Mountain forever, endlessly mending it, never able to leave.

But he never expected that I would dump that tedious work on Xu Shenghua and slip away myself. I have always loathed repeating one thing day after day.

So then.

. . " Shen Mu sank into thought, pacing back and forth, now and then raising his eyes to the Lingxiao Treasure Hall, now and then looking at the other treasure halls of Miluo Palace, such as the Supreme Jade Purity Hall and the Purple Empyrean Hall. "Then is the Chaotic Space into which Yue Tianzun exiled Xiao Tianzun yet another scheme?

A scheme laid by Tai Yi, or one laid by the Young Masters of Miluo Palace? That place was also a refuge the Red Emperor found for the Red Emperor's Divine Race; the Suspended Realm is there. .

. " The Red Emperor found that place but could not leave it alive, and so his body merged with a small universe and became the Suspended Realm. Yue Tianzun had also once drifted there and discovered many incredible ruins. And Xiao Tianzun, exiled there by Yue Tianzun, had emerged with greatly advanced strength.

So Shen Mu suspected that it, too, might be a scheme laid by the "Young Masters" of Miluo Palace. He exhaled a breath of turbid air.

Tai Yi's fall into the fourth universe had seemed an accident, but now that many things had suddenly become clear to him, he felt it was an event Tai Yi had deliberately made to appear accidental yet which was in truth inevitable. "Hao Tianzun's victory over Xiao Tianzun: did he rely on his own strength, or was it a contest between two schemers?

" Shen Mu's thoughts went deeper and deeper.

Was there a schemer behind Hao Tianzun as well? In this duel, the victor appeared to be Hao Tianzun, but in truth the victor was the schemer behind Hao Tianzun! "There are still many secrets in this universe, but few of them can stump me now, and the schemes laid by these Young Masters are among the few that can.

" Shen Mu looked at the tattered dao fruit beside him and the woman within it, and suddenly laughed. "Was the task the Master of Miluo Palace gave Tai Di to stir up chaos, to slaughter more powerhouses in the Ancestral Court, and to launch a blood sacrifice?

" The woman in the dao fruit laughed.

"Tai Di was never up to it. Only Mu Tianzun, Young Master Mu, could accomplish such a thing.

" Shen Mu laughed heartily, shook his head, and walked toward Miluo Palace. "Master of Miluo Palace, how many sins are committed in your name? This scheme may fool Tai Di, but it cannot fool me.

I will not enter your game. I mean to stay here a few days to comprehend the dao patterns of Miluo Palace. You may withdraw.

" The woman in the dao fruit was taken aback, then shouted, "What do you mean by that? What do you mean, how many sins in your name?

This task was given to Tai Di of the Juyu clan by the Master of Miluo Palace himself! " Shen Mu sneered, turned his head, and said with a laugh, "Have you ever met the Master of Miluo Palace? " The woman in the dao fruit was struck dumb. Shen Mu shook his head, came to the front of the palace, and began carefully pondering the runes on its walls, muttering, "A Dao-achiever, and still a foolish woman.

. . " "Who are you cursing?

" The woman in the dao fruit was furious.
