Chapter 1632 — Seeing Through All Things Clearly

The Herdsman of the Wasteland Page 1 of 2

Taishi's voice came from within the egg, thick with tears. Even as he kept charging forward with the shell braced atop him, he tried to patch it up—but the power surging in from the Taiji Starfield outside only grew vaster and more torrential, battering the round egg until its cracks multiplied beyond any hope of repair.

"My egg yolk is going to leak out!" he wailed.

As the shell split apart, the Taishi primordial fluid inside began to seep away down the seams of his legs.

Taishi was beyond tears. He drew a long breath and sucked every last drop of the primordial fluid inside the shell dry in one go!

"Not a single drop can go to waste!"

Tears in his eyes, he licked the egg fluid from the corner of his mouth, snatched up a fallen shard of shell, stuffed it into his mouth, crunched it a few times, and tipped his head back to swallow.

"That villain Mu Tianzun has been eyeing my eggshell for ages—not one piece can be left for him!"

Crash—

The shell shattered. Taishi scrambled in every direction, gathering up all the fragments and clutching them to his chest, cramming them into his mouth without pause.

The two Taiji Ancient Gods came charging in murderously. They had barely caught up when they saw a fat man with blue hair and blue robes, unkempt and grimy, a ring of eggshell still clinging around his waist, a pile of shell fragments in his arms which he was ravenously devouring.

Because he had swallowed the primordial fluid from the egg, the energy accumulated within it could not be fully refined, and could only build up inside his body—and on top of that he had eaten so much shell, his frame had grown fat.

Moreover, he was still getting fatter, turning round and plump at a speed visible to the naked eye.

Still, as far as looks went, if he could slim down a few sizes, he might well be called a handsome man of striking bearing. Alas, he could not bear to part with his Taishi primordial fluid and Taishi eggshell—even what he could not digest, he desperately crammed down.

"Taishi followed Mu Tianzun too long—he has truly gone mad, eating even his own eggshell!"

Taiyin Niangniang sneered coldly and struck lethally at the fat man in his eggshell skirt: "A moment ago I heard you spout so many lofty principles—I took you for some paragon of virtue. To think you are so base!"

The Taiji Ancient God hesitated briefly: "Once a thing is begun, it must be seen through to the end! Brother Taishi is obstinate and unrepentant—we have no choice but to kill him! Back then, my sister and I wished to assist Mu Tianzun, but he refused us, saying the two of us were fit only to ruin things, not to accomplish them. Since there is no possibility of being dao companions, we can only be adversaries!"

He activated the Taiji Sand Table. The two Ancient Gods' serpent tails intertwined, and together they pushed the Taiji Sand Table to its utmost limit!

Whoosh—

The sand table formed the posture of yin and yang in harmony, like two thick serpent tails coiling and spinning around each other, grinding all things to dust!

The fat man clutching his eggshells fumbled in panic. The shells in his arms went flying with a clatter. He rummaged frantically among them, suddenly produced a bronze-colored mirror, and thrust it behind his head.

Boom!

The Taiji Sand Table engulfed the fat man. The two Taiji Ancient Gods saw clearly: the bronze mirror behind Taishi's head burst forth with a limpid azure radiance that shone upon his body, and the Taiji Sand Table's power howled straight through him without harming him in the slightest!

The two Taiji Ancient Gods were startled: "This is Taishi's companion treasure? How is it so bizarre?"

The mirror was not cast of bronze—only its color was blue-green. Its back seemed covered in strange patterns, and once its mirror-light shone, their divine powers lost all efficacy.

Taishi hurriedly gathered the rest of the eggshells, clutched them to his chest, and kept desperately cramming them into his mouth.

The two Taiji Ancient Gods were both exasperated and amused, thinking: "As if anyone would steal them from you!"

They pressed in to kill, when suddenly Taishi Ancient God rolled in a circle and charged at them. Both struck at once—one pure yin divine power, one pure yang divine power—sealing him off from left and right to block the fat man.

Yet Taishi passed straight through their divine powers. How terrifying was the might of their divine powers? And yet it was as though they had not touched him at all.

Bang! Bang!

Taiyin Niangniang took a punch to the left cheek; the Sun Ancient God took a punch to the right. Both were shocked and furious—then they saw Taishi's hands, one to each side, forming a pulling force that drew the two of them together. The divine power he used was precisely one he had comprehended from the way of Taiji!

"Using our own arts against us?"

The two Ancient Gods were enraged: "You have learned only the barest surface, yet you dare flaunt your prowess before us—you underestimate us too much!"

Suddenly Taishi changed his move. Yin-yang Taiji transformed into the way of Taishu, catching the two Ancient Gods off guard.

They saw him clasp his hands together, and chaos qi spread everywhere, wrapping around the two Ancient Gods and forming a massive flower bud.

Taishu suddenly opens the chaos bud!

This was Shen Mu's divine power—and yet the fat man executed it without the slightest impediment, as though he had practiced it a thousand times.

The two Ancient Gods shouted and activated the Taiji Sand Table, blasting the chaos apart—then saw the round, plump youth bow and push toward them.

One qi of primordial chaos, the dao travels together!

Also Shen Mu's divine power!

Boom!

The Sun and Taiyin both spat blood and were sent flying backward. The two Ancient Gods nearly separated, and knowing things had gone badly, hurriedly intertwined their tails mid-flight to keep from being forced apart.

If they were separated, Taishi would pick them off one by one.

They finally steadied themselves, and saw Taishi rolling forward at great speed, shouting and hollering: "You think all these years inside the egg I only ate primordial fluid? Truth be told, none of Mu Tianzun's divine powers escape my perception! Whatever arts he has, I learn what I can and ignore what I cannot! He went and gnawed on Kaihuang, gnawed on Yue Tianzun, gnawed on Langwan, gnawed on Xu Tianzun—I only need to cling to him and gnaw, and I'll have whatever I want!"

Behind him the half-life mirror hung high, its light shining forth, so that none of the two's divine powers could strike Taishi's true body—they passed straight through him.

The two Ancient Gods were bound hand and foot, retreating even as they fought, gnashing their teeth in fury at Taishi's way of battle, yet utterly helpless.

Taishi rolled back and forth around them, raging: "I meant to keep gnawing on him until I attained the dao—so that the moment I emerged I'd be a master who had attained the dao! And you two ruined it! Now that I've emerged, how can I go back into his divine treasury to gnaw on him? I can't bring myself to face that shame!"

"Deal with his companion treasure first!"

Taiyin Niangniang immediately saw the crux and shouted: "It is that mirror of his! So long as its light shines on him, he cannot be attacked! We must first take his treasure before we can strike his true body!"

The two at once joined forces to activate the Taiji Sand Table. Their bodies spun within the sand table, merging into a single figure—a bull-headed, human-bodied Tubo—three eyes spewing dense, pitch-black Youdu demon fire, one fist smashing toward that bronze-colored mirror.

Taishi had only just emerged and did not himself know what use his mirror had. He simply raised it and activated its power. Now, seeing the Taiji Ancient Gods transform into Tubo and attack, he grew flustered.
