Chapter 127 — Tang Yun Cried, Tang Yun Crying as She Begs Everyone for Monthly Tickets... "Monthly Tickets, Monthly Tickets"... Tang Yun Was a Little Surprised, Not Only Because Wang Zhifeng So Easily Let What Just Happened Slide, But More Because of What Wang Zhifeng Said Afterward, When He Told Wei Zhao to Come Find Him in a While!

The Blossom Guardian

Could those words really have come from Director Wang? Had he not always loathed any closeness between boys and girls? Why was today so different...

Ah, Tang Yun gave a soft sigh. Was all of this only because of who Wei Zhao was?

She walked back to her classroom in a daze and did nothing else, only settling into her own seat and quietly turning over everything that had happened these past few days, her heart knotted with irritation... She had no idea whether Wei Zhao truly liked her or not!

She secretly raised her head and looked out through the window set in the classroom wall, and saw Wei Zhao and Wang Zhifeng chatting away like old friends. Tang Yun curled her lip. If you were not some rich young master, would he even give you the time of day?

Toward Wei Zhao, Tang Yun felt both fear and anger in her heart. If he cared about keeping up appearances, that was still manageable, and she could throw a little temper before him and make things difficult for him... But if one day he threw all restraint aside, what might he do? Tang Yun did not dare to imagine it.

She had heard plenty about those reckless young masters who answered to no one. If the discipline at Songshan No.1 High School had not been so strict, she feared she herself could hardly have escaped calamity! Fortunately, Songshan No.1 High School was a star private school in the city and even in the province, its promotion rate always among the very best, and the backgrounds of its board members beyond reach. Wild and unruly as those young masters were, they did not dare go too far inside the school, for no matter their connections, the school would expel them without mercy.

She thought of the playmate from childhood, her closest girlhood friend, now crippled in both legs and sitting gloomily at home day after day... Once, just like her, that girl had been full of dreams and hopes for the future, but now... People say the children of poor families grow up early, and Tang Yun was even more so. She was not ignorant of the cold warmth of human feeling, and what had happened to her father had taught her all too well how weak and helpless her family was. Yet Tang Yun did not believe that even if she let those young masters have their way with her, they would pity her and lend her family a hand... Had not her best friend's boyfriend once said the same, promising to lift her family out of poverty and move them out of the shantytown, even boasting before Tang Yun that he would take care of the Tang family's troubles as well? But what came of it in the end?

Without quite realizing it, little Tang Yun had grown wary and guarded toward young masters like Wei Zhao. Perhaps it was because she feared Wei Zhao too much that she made such extreme moves to protect herself, yet Tang Yun also understood clearly that if one day Wei Zhao cast off his disguise, her petty tricks would do nothing to him at all, and would only provoke him instead...

Thinking of this, Tang Yun half regretted why she had ever provoked him, even going so far as to step on his foot. If he ever lost patience... Her mind was in chaos until suddenly she heard a tapping at the window beside her ear. It startled her, and she looked up in panic toward the outside of the window, only to find Wei Zhao standing there with his hand still on the glass. Clearly it was he who had knocked.

"You... What are you doing?" Tang Yun was frightened, for she had just been wondering whether Wei Zhao might cast aside all decency and force himself upon her, and there he was.

Wei Zhao pointed at the plastic-steel handle on the window. Though he could tell from the shape of Tang Yun's lips what she was saying, she certainly could not hear a word he said, for the soundproofing of the plastic-steel window was excellent.

"Oh..." Only then did Tang Yun realize the window was shut, and that Wei Zhao certainly could not hear her. Trembling, she opened the window.

"You seem very afraid of me?" Wei Zhao found that Tang Yun guarded herself against him like a hedgehog, and that was no good sign at all. He still hoped to begin a pure and simple romance, and it could not wither away like this.

"What would I be afraid of you for?" Tang Yun twisted her body with awkward stiffness and edged herself farther from Wei Zhao. "It is you I should ask. What exactly do you want?"

"Want? Nothing much?" Wei Zhao looked innocent. Though he did covet Tang Yun's beauty to some degree, for she truly was a born beauty, and being a normal man he would more or less have his thoughts, he had made no further move at all.

Tang Yun saw his dying-innocent look and bit her lip in fury. "You drove away Zou Ruoming, and then went to sweet-talk my mother... And gave me a skirt. Do you not... Do you not mean to pursue me?"

Though Tang Yun was shy, since things had already been said this far, it was better to speak plainly and let Wei Zhao give up sooner.

"Uh... Gave you a skirt?" Wei Zhao had not expected that after squeezing fifty yuan out of this girl, she would still think the skirt was his gift. What a masterstroke of gift-giving! He might as well open a gift-delivery company someday and deliver gifts for people for a living.

But pursue... It seemed he had guessed right. This girl Tang Yun truly believed he meant to pursue her, and that this whole series of acts was staged from some worn-out script just to get close to her! Ha, Wei Zhao could only smile bitterly. If Yang Huaijun ever heard of this, he would surely laugh himself backward and forward.

"Fine, I just want to pursue you. So what?" A wicked amusement rose in Wei Zhao, and wanting to tease Tang Yun, he simply nodded and owned it.

"You... You... How can you be like this!" Tang Yun had never thought that one provocation from her would make Wei Zhao tear off his mask and admit it outright. At once all her temper drained away, and instead she had no idea what to do. She lowered her head, not daring to look at Wei Zhao, and all her earlier courage to question him was gone.

Tang Yun buried her head very low, almost into her collar. The nape of her neck, once hidden by her shining hair, now showed its fair skin before Wei Zhao's eyes, enough to set the imagination wandering.

Wei Zhao was about to tease her a few more lines when he saw Tang Yun's long lashes tremble, her slight frame rise and fall faintly, and a glint of crystal shine at the corner of her eye and slide down her cheek.

Wei Zhao was badly startled. Tang Yun was actually crying! Was the little spitfire not so tough after all? Seeing her so fierce when she stepped on his foot before, he had taken her for strong, and never thought a few words from him would make her cry.

Even Wang Zhifeng just now had not possessed such power!

"All right, all right, do not cry," Wei Zhao had never coaxed a girl before, and now he was flustered too and had no idea what to do. "If you do not cry, I will buy you candy..."

Hearing such muddled, child-coaxing nonsense from Wei Zhao, Tang Yun grew only more annoyed, taking it as deliberate mockery of her. Wronged at heart, she cried all the harder, lying across her desk and sobbing.

"All right, all right, as long as you do not cry, I will promise you one thing, anything I can manage." Wei Zhao had never promised anyone anything before, but once he promised, he would surely keep it.

If Yang Huaijun knew that their captain, just to stop a girl from crying, had broken precedent and made a promise, he would surely have been stunned to death.

"Who wants it..." Tang Yun spoke three words in her grievance and then paid Wei Zhao no more heed.

Wei Zhao was helpless. Just then the class bell rang, and the students out for break exercises all came pouring back. It was no longer proper for Wei Zhao to keep standing at the window, so he could only go back to his classroom first and say more later.
