Chapter 134 — Kabedon on the Bus

The Blossom Guardian

"Laughing? What the hell are you laughing at? You looking to die?" Embarrassed by the laughter, the young punk glared back at the crowd on the platform, then slunk away.

On the bus, Tang Yun paid Wei Zhao no attention, keeping her head down and saying nothing, no one could tell what she was thinking. Wei Zhao stood to one side, breathing in the fresh girlish scent of her, his thoughts drifting somewhere they should not.

He had to admit it: Tang Yun truly stood out. Nearly one meter seventy, a little taller than both Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu, her figure all the more slender and well proportioned, a match for Wang Xinyan whom he had met on the train, and yet her air was utterly unlike Wang Xinyan's quiet gentleness. Tang Yun carried within her a defiant pride; but then, for a girl from a poor family, the prettier and the better her grades, the fiercer her self-respect.

From Wei Zhao's angle, following the smooth black fall of her hair, he could just make out the pale skin of her neck and a glimpse below it; though he could not see the *details, it was all the more enticing for it.

Tang Yun kept her head down and said nothing, and Wei Zhao was only too happy to enjoy the quiet, a double feast for sight and smell.

Another stop, and more people got on. The morning bus was terrifyingly crowded; most passengers only got off in the last few stops, and before that the bus simply kept taking on more and more people.

The crush squeezed Tang Yun and Wei Zhao closer, until all at once they were pressed together. Tang Yun gave a little "ah," and the softness of her breasts pressed directly against Wei Zhao.

Ambushed by that sudden weaponry, Wei Zhao felt secretly pleased and yet also felt that this was hardly decent. Though it was others who had shoved Tang Yun into him, Wei Zhao had no wish to take advantage of her under these circumstances; that would make him no different from the young punk from before.

Unwilling, Tang Yun tried to shift herself away, but the bus was too crowded, and where would she find the strength to push back? Her struggling only made it seem as though she were deliberately rubbing her breasts against Wei Zhao, and the strange sensation flushed her face red in an instant.

She thought how unlucky today had been. To shake off the young punk pestering her, she had circled all over the shantytown with him and lost track of time. Otherwise she left home early every day, and though there was never a seat on the bus, it was never this crowded either. Today she had nearly been late for school, and by some cruel coincidence had run into Wei Zhao, that great villain, right here on the bus.

"Don't move around. I'll open up some space for you," Wei Zhao said, reaching out to put his arm around Tang Yun and shift her toward the window.

Taken into Wei Zhao's arm, Tang Yun's delicate body gave a violent shudder. She was about to resist, but seeing the clarity in Wei Zhao's eyes and understanding his intent, she could not help but close her mouth.... Did he really want to help her? She could only hope so... Shielded by Wei Zhao, she reached the window, where Wei Zhao braced his hand against the frame, using his arm to open up a space for her, and their bodies separated.

Though Wei Zhao felt some reluctance, this manner of taking advantage was not really to his taste; seeing how unwilling Tang Yun looked, he could not have enjoyed it with a clear conscience anyway.

At Wei Zhao's maneuver the people on the bus could only glare. The bus was already packed to bursting, and here he was carving out a little space to please his girlfriend. Wasn't that a bit immoral?

Someone wanted to call Wei Zhao out. These were the people who had boarded at the last stop, of course, and knew nothing of Wei Zhao's earlier glorious deed. Just as they were about to speak, a kind soul beside them held them back: "Don't stick your neck out. A young punk did that just now, and he threw him clean out the bus door with one hand..."

Hearing this, the would-be challenger quickly pulled his head in. No joke. Such a person was best left well alone. If the man could carve out space, that was his own strength and ability; what business was it of anyone else's?

Still, Wei Zhao's posture with Tang Yun just then was a little ambiguous. Setting aside this particular setting, anywhere else, Wei Zhao wrapping Tang Yun up like that would look exactly like a scene of thuggish students harassing a schoolgirl.

Tang Yun kept her head down, her heart far from calm, a little nervous and a little surprised! Wei Zhao really had not taken further advantage of her! That was a different man entirely from the great villain in her mind! With such a good opportunity, why had he not seized it?

Any other time it would have been one thing, but yesterday she had laid her cards on the table with him; he no longer needed to keep up the pretense. Yet today... At that thought, Tang Yun silently cursed herself for a fool. Wasn't it good that he did not take advantage of her? Did the villain have to take advantage of her for things to be as they should be?

As more and more people boarded at the following stops, Tang Yun could feel the bus growing ever more crowded, and yet the little space Wei Zhao had made for her had not changed in the slightest... A little puzzled, she glanced over from the corner of her eye, and saw that Wei Zhao's back was being crushed to the point of smoking, his arms squeezed on both sides to the point of death, and yet he still held the same posture as before, without the slightest alteration...

Though she knew Wei Zhao was strong, being sheltered with such care still made Tang Yun feel a little awkward. Rich young masters were all the same, and before... even Xiaofen's boyfriend would never do such a thing...

At that thought, Tang Yun suddenly felt that Wei Zhao did not seem so bad after all... No, wrong, how could she think that? It must be that Wei Zhao was deliberately putting on an act to make her lower her guard and slowly break down her psychological defenses... Yes, that must be it! She absolutely must not be fooled!

At that, Tang Yun stopped looking at Wei Zhao and bowed her head, her mind a complete blank...

"Songshan City No.1 High School is approaching. Passengers getting off, please be ready. the-next-station-is-songshan-no.1-middle-school."

Inside the carriage came the voice of the stop announcer: the next stop was Songshan No.1 High School.

"Time to get off. I'll shield you while we squeeze out," Wei Zhao said to Tang Yun.

"Oh..." Tang Yun gave a slight nod, her long lashes trembling faintly; clearly her heart was far from calm.

As before, Wei Zhao put his arm around Tang Yun's waist and carefully shielded her as they squeezed toward the exit. But without the window wall to brace against, Tang Yun was inevitably pressed into Wei Zhao's arms.

Breathing in the male scent of Wei Zhao, Tang Yun was so flustered with shyness that she went stiff and rigid, not daring to move, hopping along like a zombie as she followed Wei Zhao toward the door...

"Whew..." They finally reached the stop and got off. Wei Zhao released Tang Yun and let out a breath of relief. This was more exhausting than squeezing onto the bus himself.

Earlier, Tang Yun had thought that the moment they got off she would make Wei Zhao let go of her. But once off the bus, before she could say a word, Wei Zhao had released her of his own accord, which left Tang Yun unexpectedly a little disappointed. What on earth was he thinking?
