Chapter 178 — Wronged to Death

The Blossom Guardian

Of course, Qiu Lingshan had no idea that Wei Zhao was simply making it all up. He would never hunt robbers in such a stupid way. If that was the limit of his ability, Yang Huaijun would never have held him in such high regard, and he would never have come here to join in the fun.

But Qiu Lingshan was too close to see clearly. Annoyed only by Wei Zhao's lecherous stare, she took the man himself to be a good deal more shameless as well.

"Don't worry, I won't trouble you unless it's something big, Young Master Lin!" Qiu Lingshan curled her lip. A mere bodyguard, not a real young master at all, yet he put on such airs, as if he were truly so capable.

"Ha, good then." Wei Zhao nodded boldly and agreed with evident pleasure. "Do you know a man called Li Cihua?"

"Li Cihua?" Qiu Lingshan's gaze sharpened, as if something had occurred to her. "You mean the man behind these robbers is Li Cihua?"

"It is not suspicion. It is him." Wei Zhao said.

"It is? How do you know?" Qiu Lingshan was somewhat taken aback. "Was it President Gu?"

"No, it was Li Cihua himself." Wei Zhao made no secret of it from Qiu Lingshan. If she could set about investigating Li Cihua and put the bastard straight into prison, it would save him a great deal of trouble.

"Li Cihua himself? He told you?" Qiu Lingshan looked strangely at Wei Zhao. The claim was rather beyond belief. "Do you have proof?"

"Yesterday he even tried to recruit me to his camp." Wei Zhao said. "He is only a spokesman for one side of interests. That is all I know, and I refused him. As for proof, of course I have none. It is only empty talk with nothing to back it, and he is arrogant enough not to fear at all that this affair will implicate him."

"So it was him..." Qiu Lingshan tightened her grip on the steering wheel. "I have been investigating him all along, but the resistance is enormous. The one behind him is very powerful. Not to mention me, even Captain Yang cannot stand up to him..."

As she spoke, Qiu Lingshan looked furious, and no wonder. This was the first case she had taken on after turning professional and joining the police, and it involved Li Cihua and the man behind him. Yet the case had come to nothing, as if an invisible hand had interfered throughout, and pressure from every side had left Qiu Lingshan no choice but to give it up...

It had become a thorn in Qiu Lingshan's heart. She knew that hot blood alone would never be enough to root out Li Cihua, yet the man was truly cunning, and his business was half black and half white. To catch him by his weak spot was all but impossible. Without evidence, there was simply nothing Qiu Lingshan could do to him.

"Who is the one behind him?" Wei Zhao asked.

Wei Zhao had never cared whether a man was powerful or well connected. He simply ignored such things. Back when he rescued Xiao Ning from the general's residence in that small African country, Wei Zhao kicked the general's son's balls to pieces with one blow, yet the man had not even dared to let out a fart.

He had an army and weapons, but against Wei Zhao they were utterly useless. If Wei Zhao could walk into the general's residence as if no one were there to find him once, he could naturally come a second time. He could resent Wei Zhao and he could take revenge, but the next time Wei Zhao came, it would not be his son's balls that were kicked to pieces, but his own head.

Too many ruthless men had already been finished off at Wei Zhao's hands... drug lords, gambling kings, underworld tycoons... The one behind this Li Cihua was, by comparison, nothing at all. Wei Zhao could make him vanish from the earth without a trace.

"Someone in the provincial capital. You would not know him even if I told you." Qiu Lingshan answered vaguely, clearly unwilling to speak of the matter.

"Oh?" Wei Zhao also saw that Qiu Lingshan's mood was off, and looked deeply at her. She seemed to dread the subject.

"You had better stay out of this," Qiu Lingshan said, showing rare concern for Wei Zhao. "Neither Captain Yang nor I can touch this man now, and neither can the chief. If you get involved, watch out for your life! Just be a good follower."

"If he does not provoke me, I naturally cannot be bothered with him." Wei Zhao smiled.

Qiu Lingshan rolled her eyes at Wei Zhao, taking his words for bragging.

She stopped the car at the gate of First High School and unlocked the doors. "I have noted what happened today. I owe you a favor. I will treat you to dinner another day."

"Sounds good." Wei Zhao nodded and agreed without a second thought.

"..." Qiu Lingshan was left speechless. Although she sincerely meant to invite Wei Zhao, could he not at least pretend to decline instead of accepting so thick-skinned? He should at least make a polite refusal.

Wei Zhao paid no mind to what Qiu Lingshan thought, got out of the car, and walked into the school.

Inside Geili Fuyun Bar, Li Cihua had already smashed four or five bottles of vintage eighties red wine. The floor was covered in red liquid like blood, a terrifying sight. Su Jiaonang stood to one side with his head bowed, holding out the '82 Lafite a waiter had just brought. "Brother Cihua, here..."

"Damn it!" Li Cihua took the red wine and smashed the glass bottle against the LCD television before him. At once a crack split the screen, and wine splashed everywhere!

An '82 Lafite was certainly worth a fortune, but it all depended on what it was compared to! Compared with two Huang-stage masters, this wine was nothing! Those were two Huang-stage masters, one at the early Huang-stage and one already at the peak of Huang-stage. In the provincial capital they could walk sideways, yet they had died in a car crash??!!!

Li Cihua found this very hard to accept! If they had truly been beaten to death, he would have accepted it. After all, if their strength fell short and they were killed, there was no one else to blame. But these two had died wronged. Li Cihua already held the survey results from the scene in his hands, and still uneasy, he had sent several more experts to investigate, yet the conclusion remained quite simple...

The left front tire had blown out, the car had suddenly veered off course, and because it was going too fast, it had lost control and crashed straight into the ditch... As for how the left front tire had blown, that was unknown, for the tire had burned to ash, and judgment could now only be made from the tire marks on the road.

Although Li Cihua also suspected whether Wei Zhao had tampered with something here, there was no proof... Besides, he did not believe Wei Zhao could have done anything to a vehicle traveling at full speed...

Even so, Li Cihua still laid this debt at Wei Zhao's door! If they had not been chasing him down, how could these two Huang-stage masters have died in a car crash?

Li Cihua's heart was bleeding. Without these two Huang-stage masters at his side, many of his affairs had become hard to handle... The only thing he could do now was to call the one behind him and beg forgiveness.
