Chapter 195 — The Astonishing Resemblance

Kang Xiaobo's huge voice was far louder than Tang Yun's, Liu Xinwen's, and Song Huiping's had been, and it stood out harshly against the noisy crowd.

This time the shout finally caught the attention of Lan Fen on the third floor. She lowered her head with vacant eyes and looked toward the source of the sound, and at that one glance an incredulous light crossed her face, a faint brightness kindled in her eyes, and her whole body trembled with excitement as she murmured to herself. Her voice was not loud, but those standing close downstairs could hear it clearly.

"Zhaoming, is that you? You have come to see me at last..." A pleased, contented smile curved Lan Fen's lips. "You came for me. You never abandoned me after all... Zhaoming..."

Kang Xiaobo was utterly baffled. He had not quite understood what Lan Fen meant, and he turned to Tang Yun and Liu Xinwen in confusion.

Tang Yun and Liu Xinwen had been puzzled too, thinking Lan Fen was hallucinating, but when they suddenly turned and saw Kang Xiaobo's face, Tang Yun could not help crying out in surprise, "Wenwen... he and that Kang Zhaoming..."

"A relative..." A ferocious glint flashed through Kang Xiaobo's eyes as he silently repeated the three words. Liu Xinwen had spoken more truly than she knew, for Kang Zhaoming really was a relative of Kang Xiaobo's family! He was the younger grandson of the eldest great-grandfather's line, and by reckoning, Kang Xiaobo's own second elder cousin.

"What are you muttering about? Hurry up and hide! Nothing must happen..." Liu Xinwen had not heard what Kang Xiaobo was saying, and she frowned.

Bitterness and anger churned together in Kang Xiaobo's heart... Had she been abandoned by his second cousin Kang Zhaoming? How could so fine a girl have been driven to jump?

Just as Kang Xiaobo stood dazed, Lan Fen on the third floor suddenly broke into a happy, satisfied smile. "Brother Zhaoming... I am coming. Wait for me..."
