Chapter 222 — Really Scared
Yet Yellow Hair's face turned horribly grim, for fool as he was, he understood by now that the man standing before him was one of those legendary masters!
Yellow Hair was no master himself, but having drifted in the underworld, he had heard of those legend-ranked masters of Heaven, Earth, Xuan and Yellow, awesome beings who could walk on rooftops and strike acupoints from thin air!
He did not know whether Wei Zhao belonged to that class of masters, but judging by the neat way Wei Zhao had just snapped bones apart and set them back, this man was definitely no ordinary fellow! And from what his trusted man had said afterward, it sounded much like the fabled art of point-striking!
Though he did not think Wei Zhao could be all that formidable, he knew well enough that a fighter of his own caliber would never be a match for Wei Zhao! Even if this kid was not a Yellow-rank master, he had to be at least half a step into Yellow rank, and at that thought, Yellow Hair felt the urge to retreat.
"Wow, your right hand looks terrifying, so let's switch to the left hand this time! Since you are awake now, keep answering my questions." As Wei Zhao spoke, he crouched down, pulled over Yellow Hair's left hand, and prepared to go on playing with dislocation.
"No... Big Brother, whatever you want to know, I will tell you it all..." Yellow Hair was truly frightened now, gazing at Wei Zhao and pleading.
"Oh, then let me ask you, were you sent by that Zou whatever?" Wei Zhao asked.
"Yes." Yellow Hair answered crisply.
"Fine, you can go back now, and tell that Zou whatever that I will come looking for him." Wei Zhao said.
"All right, Big Brother, I will deliver the message." Yellow Hair said hastily.
Crack, another crisp snap sounded, and Wei Zhao let go of Yellow Hair's left hand, which was now cleanly dislocated.
"Ow... Big Brother, I already told you everything, why did you still..." Yellow Hair leapt up from the ground in pain, looking at Wei Zhao with aggrieved eyes.
"I look far too kind, and I am afraid you might not know I am a ruthless man and cheaply come back to this hospital again." Wei Zhao grinned at Yellow Hair without a shred of sympathy.
"..." Yellow Hair was nearly in tears. "Big Brother, I know now that you are a ruthless man, rest assured, I will never come again..."
How could Yellow Hair fail to grasp Wei Zhao's meaning? Wei Zhao was warning him never to stir trouble at the hospital again, but would he even dare to come? Though Yellow Hair ran with the streets, he was no fool, and with strength so clearly above his own, to walk up and offer himself for another beating would be sheer brainlessness.
"Then go, I will not see you out." Wei Zhao waved his hand, signaling that Yellow Hair could get lost.
Director Ma had arrived long ago and stood in the doorway, not daring to come in. He had rushed over after a nurse told him a fight had broken out in this ward, but one glance told him exactly why Wei Zhao had asked him to find a few surgeons, for these creatures hobbling out would indeed be needing surgeons!
Wei Zhao judged men with unerring accuracy, and in Yellow Hair's eyes he saw genuine terror, not the false submission of mere lip service. Some men, once they yield, yield for real, while others yield only on the surface, thinking to themselves that a gentleman may wait ten years for revenge.
If this Yellow Hair had not truly yielded, but meant to come back for vengeance later, Wei Zhao would not mind making him vanish inexplicably from the face of the earth! Back in his old squad, Wei Zhao had been famous for shielding his own! Touch anyone in my squad, and I will touch your whole family first!
Returned to the bustling city, he had no comrades-in-arms anymore, but he had friends by his side. These friends, just like his old comrades, were likewise Wei Zhao's untouchable line.
Tang Yun had long since covered her mouth in fright, and even a tough girl like Liu Xinwen could not help staring with wide eyes! Song Huiping went further and covered Xiaofen's eyes!
For Wei Zhao was simply too ruthless! Though he was dealing with a gang of villains, such methods still chilled all who watched to the bone! Only in Kang's eyes burned excitement!
He had once fought Wei Zhao up on the rooftop, and for men, fighting stirs mostly boiling passion, with little of terror or fear.
"For men like these, you just give them a lesson they will remember, otherwise they will keep coming to make trouble." Seeing the expressions around him, Wei Zhao shrugged a little sheepishly.
"Boss, you were so cool, can you teach me that move just now? Crack, and the other fellow's hand is ruined..." Kang looked envious.
"I can teach you, but who shall we use for demonstration?" Wei Zhao smiled at Kang.
"Uh... then forget it..." Kang weakly drew his hand back and shook his head.
The tense atmosphere in the ward was instantly lightened by this humorous exchange between Wei Zhao and Kang, and even Song Huiping smiled along. Xiaofen had perhaps seen much of life and death, and had not been very frightened by what came before, so hearing Kang's words, she smiled too.
In the afternoon Tang's mother had to go set up her stall at the snack street, and Tang Yun naturally had to go help her mother. Xiaofen was in no serious danger here, so Tang Yun prepared to leave. With Tang Yun gone, Wei Zhao found it dull to stay, and left together with her.
Kang and Liu Xinwen were left behind to look after Xiaofen, and Kang seemed to have settled his own heart. Eighteen-year-old Kang was impulsive and passionate, and though Xiaofen bore many flaws, devoted Kang had already brushed them all aside...
Wei Zhao was a touch more rational than Kang, but not by much. The beautiful campus life filled Wei Zhao with quiet joy, while those days of licking blood from the knife's edge drifted ever farther from him...
Looking at Tang Yun sitting silent in the passenger seat with her head bowed, Wei Zhao smiled. Tang Yun still wore that wronged, bullied look, as if he bullied her every day and every moment.
The car drove into the shantytown, and Wei Zhao parked it in yesterday's spot.
The shantytown had recovered its old bustle and ease, old folks sitting comfortably at their own doorways chatting with neighbors, children running about everywhere, and at the sight of Wei Zhao's car, they all crowded curiously around to have a look.
The shadow of Xiaofen's leap from the building yesterday had lifted, and Building Three had returned to its former calm.
"Shall I walk you back?" Wei Zhao frowned, for he saw that Li Erlan ambling leisurely this way.
Tang Yun hesitated a moment, then nodded with an "Mm." Compared with unreasonable scoundrels like Li Erlan and Zou Ruoming, she would far rather deal with Wei Zhao, this gentlemanly scoundrel.
In truth, to call Wei Zhao gentlemanly was Tang Yun's feeling about his manner toward herself. Though he pursued her, he never used force, and now and then he could even indulge her little temper and moods, and this steadily lowered the defenses in Tang Yun's heart toward Wei Zhao, for she had come to believe that so long as she did not nod, Wei Zhao would never do anything excessive to her.
