Chapter 404 — That's What You Get for Talking Nonsense

The Blossom Guardian

"You..." Feng Xiaoxiao was instantly choking with fury at Wei Zhao's words. She was, after all, the universe's top-tier, invincible, peerlessly beautiful young maiden — so how was it that the moment she left his mouth she turned into a brain-dead idiot?

Kang **, sitting in front of Wei Zhao, had heard Feng Xiaoxiao's words too, and was burning with envy at Wei Zhao's good fortune with the ladies — until he caught Wei Zhao's sarcastic reply and nearly keeled over on the spot. The man truly had no idea how to cherish a delicate flower!

"'You' what? If you're here to study, then suit yourself. If you're here for anything else, don't blame me for kicking you down the stairs!" Wei Zhao said flatly. "I've already trampled two of the Four Great Young Villains. I wouldn't mind trampling one more."

It wasn't that Wei Zhao hadn't seen the scene at the school gate that morning!

In fact, the news that the last of the school's Four Great Young Villains had returned to Songshan First High had been passed to him early that morning by Yu Dafa, the big boss of the senior year. But Wei Zhao had no interest whatsoever in going to welcome one of the Four Great Young Villains. Whoever wanted to go kiss up to her could go; he had never intended to.

What Wei Zhao hadn't expected was that the last of the Four Great Young Villains was a girl — and not just any girl, but the little punk he'd run into in front of the snack street! So he felt not the slightest urge to treat her gently.

"You knew?" Feng Xiaoxiao hadn't expected Wei Zhao to have already figured out who she was.

"I took one look from the window." The phone in Wei Zhao's pocket buzzed. He frowned. "Stop dawdling. Let me check my message."

Feng Xiaoxiao was about to explode with rage at being ignored like that. She had never been so thoroughly slighted in her life. She lifted her high heel and stamped down at Wei Zhao's foot — and Wei Zhao, eyes fixed unblinkingly on his message, pulled his foot away at the last instant, just before her heel came down...

*Crack...* A crisp snap rang out, followed by Feng Xiaoxiao's cry of dismay — she had stamped so hard that her heel had broken clean off!

Feng Xiaoxiao's face went scarlet with fury. She glared at Wei Zhao — and found him looking as if nothing had happened, still reading his message, deaf to everything that had just occurred.

Could it have been pure coincidence? Had Wei Zhao not dodged on purpose? Feng Xiaoxiao was puzzled for a moment — no, that wasn't right! It suddenly dawned on her: even if he hadn't seen it, hadn't he heard the sharp crack of her heel breaking? Wasn't he the least bit curious?

There was only one explanation left: Wei Zhao had done it on purpose. He had dodged on purpose before, and now he was pretending on purpose not to have heard! Furious, Feng Xiaoxiao lunged to snatch his phone — but Wei Zhao's hand rose slightly, as though he were about to send a message, and neatly slipped out of her reach.

The message was from Shen Yushu: "Sister Yaoyao told me to ask you — why are you out philandering again? Someone's come to settle scores with you, haven't they?"

Wei Zhao smiled wryly. It seemed Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu hadn't recognized Feng Xiaoxiao as the girl from the snack street that day. He texted back: "She has come to settle scores with me, true enough — but only because I went to the snack street with you two."

"The snack street?" Gu Mengyao frowned, looking at Shen Yushu's phone. "What snack street? What does the snack street have to do with Wei Zhao chasing girls?"

"Oh... I think I remember now!" Shen Yushu slapped her forehead in sudden realization. "Sister Yaoyao, don't you remember? In front of the snack street, a little punk girl blocked our car, and then Brother Wrigley pushed their car out of the way..."

"You mean the one in the Audi TT?" Gu Mengyao tried hard to recall. It did seem to be the same person as today's Feng Xiaoxiao — only dressed differently.

"Yes, that's her!" Shen Yushu nodded. "So she's come to settle scores with Brother Wrigley. Sister Yaoyao, what do we do?"

"What can we do? Just ignore her. Since Wei Zhao isn't out philandering, why should we bother ourselves with it?" Gu Mengyao said indifferently.

"Oh, right, right, right! When Brother Wrigley does go philandering, then we'll bother!" Shen Yushu said, thoroughly convinced.

"His philandering has nothing to do with us either. He's not your boyfriend — what are you in such a hurry for?" Gu Mengyao shot Shen Yushu a glare.

"Oh, whether he's my boyfriend or not depends on what Sister Yaoyao says..." Shen Yushu said, sticking out her tongue.

"What nonsense are you talking!" Gu Mengyao snapped. "Open your mouth."

"?" Shen Yushu blinked in confusion, but obediently opened her mouth anyway. "Ah—"

Gu Mengyao reached into Shen Yushu's mouth.

"Ow... it hurts... it hurts so much! Sister Yaoyao, why are you pulling my tongue? It hurts! Let go..." Shen Yushu wailed, on the verge of tears.

"Hmph, I'll pull your tongue out so you'll stop running your mouth all day long!" Of course Gu Mengyao had no intention of actually pulling it out — she was only trying to scare her.

"I won't do it again... I'll stop talking nonsense, all right... It hurts! Sister Yaoyao, you really went through with it — it's killing me..." Shen Yushu covered her mouth, nearly in tears...

Wei Zhao put the phone back in his pocket and only then turned to look at Feng Xiaoxiao. "What exactly do you want? Are you hyperactive or something?"

"Hey, is Gu Mengyao jealous?" Feng Xiaoxiao might have looked like a brute on the surface, but in truth she was a girl of very fine sensibilities. After Wei Zhao sent his message, she had deliberately glanced over at Gu Mengyao, seen her head bowed, and known at once that she was reading a text.

"No. She doesn't like me," Wei Zhao said flatly. "And you can forget about your crooked little schemes. They won't work."

Looking at Feng Xiaoxiao's darting eyes, Wei Zhao could guess what she was thinking.

"Crooked schemes, is it? Call it whatever you like. Teach me to drive, or I'll tell everyone about you and Gu Mengyao!" Feng Xiaoxiao paid no heed to Wei Zhao's threat; she turned it right back on him.

"Suit yourself. Whether people know or not only affects Gu Mengyao; it makes no difference to me." Wei Zhao shrugged. "If you want to make yourself an enemy, that's fine by me — just don't go thinking Gu Mengyao is easy to bully... She has a girl beside her named Shen Yushu who's a lot tougher than you. Don't end up dead without even knowing how you died."

"..." Feng Xiaoxiao shot Wei Zhao a venomous look. The threat had failed, and she had no choice but to give up. As for Shen Yushu, she had never met the girl in person, but she had long since heard her name. Her brother was the foremost of Songshan's Four Young Masters — a man several grades above her own standing as one of First High's Four Great Young Villains. There was no great grudge between them, and Feng Xiaoxiao had no wish to provoke that sort of person of her own accord.

She had meant to frighten Wei Zhao into doing as she wished, but he simply didn't care.

"Aren't you afraid Gu Mengyao will fire you?" Feng Xiaoxiao wouldn't give up.
