Chapter 5051 — The Outcome Is Decided

The Blossom Guardian

And even Sun Baimei, whose mental cultivation method was unusual, would have found it hard to register anything unless he deliberately probed. Their attention was wholly fixed on Leng Leng; none of them would have gone out of their way to investigate an utterly unrelated "ordinary man" like Wei Zhao.

"I'm really fine—now hurry back!" Leng Leng pushed Wei Zhao toward the door as she spoke, but to her astonishment she failed to move him at all. She was a capable cultivator at the early Foundation Establishment stage, and she had put no small amount of force behind that shove—and yet she could not budge a "commoner" like Wei Zhao?

"Don't worry, I'll protect you!" Wei Zhao only grinned and jabbed a finger at Sun Baimei and Fei Yangsheng. "These two are home-invasion robbers, aren't they? Watch me beat them to death and give you a taste of the glory days. I may not be what I was back then, but finishing off these two idiots is more than enough."

At that, Leng Leng was on the verge of tears. She begged hurriedly, "Stop fooling around and get out of here—there really is nothing wrong on my end..."

"Hmph. Since you're here, you may as well stay." Sun Baimei was standing just a short distance from the two of them; as he spoke, he made ready to strike Wei Zhao dead. With his strength, killing an ordinary man was easier than crushing an ant. Whether Wei Zhao lived or died hardly mattered to him, but since this brat had barged in without knowing his place, then he had only himself to blame.

Leng Leng was frantic at the sight and rushed to shield Wei Zhao behind her body—only for Wei Zhao to seize the moment and pull her out the door, while flinging a horrifying mass of true qi from his hand. They were so close, and the move so sudden, that Sun Baimei had scarcely any time to react before the qi bomb slammed straight into his face.

From their last exchange, Wei Zhao knew Sun Baimei was the one he feared most. To his present spirit-body form, this creature was practically a natural predator, and the qi bomb had been prepared specifically for him. So long as he could take the thing out first, everything else would be easy.

Boom! With a tremendous roar, the qi bomb detonated right against Sun Baimei's face. It had not been charged for long, so its power was hardly exceptional—yet at such close range, its lethality was still formidable, and Sun Baimei was blasted backward through the window behind him.

"Good thing the fool underestimated his enemy. Otherwise, with his late Foundation Establishment strength, even if he couldn't dodge entirely, he'd at least have cleared some distance—and then it would have been trouble." Wei Zhao breathed an inward sigh of relief.

This was the flaw of the qi bomb. It could be devastating given enough time to build up, but it was not like the Thunder Burial, which was so fast it left no chance to evade, nor like the Five Elements Eight Trigrams Killing Qi, which could be freely controlled at will and might even evolve a spirit of its own. Once thrown, it was bound to detonate—but if the opponent reacted quickly enough, it could easily miss.

So at best it was a surprise killing move, never a true ace in the hole; the higher one's level, the less use it was. By the time he was on Cloud-Tier Island, Wei Zhao had already begun to use it less and less.

But the situation now was special. Never mind the Thunder Burial and the Five Elements Eight Trigrams Killing Qi—he could not even employ techniques like the Thousand Thunder Bursts. His only way to turn the tables was the qi bomb fused with pill fire. He had no other choice.

All of this was within Wei Zhao's calculations, but the other two still present were utterly dumbstruck. Leng Leng had spent over half a month in his company, always taking him for an ordinary man—who could have imagined that Wei Zhao would blast the late-Foundation-Establishment Sun Baimei flying the instant he acted?

Even so, Leng Leng still held to her preconception and did not take Wei Zhao for a cultivator. Her first reaction was to wonder whether this was some high-tech device from the secular world. Wei Zhao had told her about the bombs of the mortal realm, whose power was said to be immense—perhaps even cultivators like them could not withstand them!

Leng Leng could not make sense of it, but Fei Yangsheng on the other side was beginning to. He had failed to recognize Wei Zhao earlier, and he could not distinguish a spirit-body as precisely as Sun Baimei, but he had suffered at the hands of a qi bomb before!

Only half a month had passed—there was no way he could fail to recognize it. What was more, Wei Zhao's figure was very close to that spirit-body outline from before, and his thoughts naturally ran in that direction.

One look at his expression told Wei Zhao that something was wrong, and he gave the man no chance to speak at all. He lunged straight in with a furious barrage of the Wild Fire Eight Trigrams Palm—this man had to die today!

He was only a spirit-body at the peak of early Foundation Establishment and could no longer casually fight opponents above his realm as he once had, but his opponent was merely a mid-Foundation-Establishment cultivator, and in a one-on-one fight Wei Zhao still held a strong advantage.

In the blink of an eye Wei Zhao and Fei Yangsheng were locked in battle, and only then did Leng Leng finally snap out of it, her face a mask of utter shock and disbelief. She would never in her wildest dreams have guessed that Wei Zhao, who had been at her side for half a month, was a Foundation Establishment expert!

Quite a few people had come out from the ancient little jianghu for training this time. Even if she could not possibly know them all, she must at least have seen each of them once, and they would have some impression of one another—after all, they had all left the secular world together. Of one thing Leng Leng was certain: Wei Zhao was absolutely not from the ancient little jianghu.

And if he was not from the ancient little jianghu, then he must be one of these native cultivators of the secular world. Could there really be a Heaven Dao expert among them? That was completely at odds with what she had been told!

In the brief moment Leng Leng stood dazed, Wei Zhao and Fei Yangsheng traded blows at lightning speed, and within a few short exchanges the outcome was clear—Fei Yangsheng, a mid-Foundation-Establishment cultivator, was beaten until he spat blood!

But Wei Zhao had paid a price as well; he now bore quite a few wounds. To kill Fei Yangsheng as quickly as possible, he had just now risked trading injury for injury in a straight clash—though it was light wounds traded for heavy ones, and with the jade pendant's space as his backing, it was acceptable.

Bang! A moment later Fei Yangsheng took another Wild Fire Thousand Kicks and was slammed upside down against the wall, reduced to a human-shaped mural, unable to move for quite a while.

"The outcome is decided." Wei Zhao immediately moved to finish him off. The man had no strength left to fight back, but this was no time for soft-heartedness. Once word that he was a spirit-body was passed from this creature to the other Heaven Dao experts, endless trouble would follow—who knew whether any of them were cut from the same cloth as Sun Baimei?

Leng Leng stared blankly at the scene, unable to react. Her heart was still in turmoil, and for the moment she simply could not accept the fact that Wei Zhao was a Foundation Establishment expert.

As for whether Fei Yangsheng lived or died, she did not care in the least. In truth, even if Wei Zhao had not moved to finish him, she might well have done it herself. After all, this man, like Sun Baimei, had not only meant to kill her but was foul and depraved besides—they were sworn, irreconcilable enemies. (To be continued.)
