Chapter 1686 — Jingping's World-Suppressing Artifact

The Herdsman of the Wasteland · Page 5 of 5

At the same moment, a golden ship sailed out of the reaches of Chaos — the Dao Ancestor seated at the bow, the Great Brahma standing at the stern — and set its course for the Primordial Realm. The ship carried mostly Buddhas and Daoists.

Through the years they had ferried a portion of Jingping's people into the lands of Chaos, found a small universe there, settled those Jingping folk, raised divine cities, planted crops, and so kept the civilization of Jingping alive.

Aboard the golden ship, besides these two, were also Emperor Ming and Emperor Chi — two tall, stalwart sovereigns who stood upon the deck gazing at the Primordial Realm and the myriad heavens drawing ever nearer. On another front, Bai Qu'er led a number of gods and demons of the Supreme Sovereign era out of one of the heavens, and after a long and weary march came to the ruins of the Supreme Sovereigns' Celestial Court.

Yi Shisheng brought them to pay reverence before the coffins of the Supreme Sovereigns of bygone generations. After Bai Qu'er had paid homage at these tombs, she said: "Senior Yi, I have come at the command of the Celestial Venerable Moon with a matter to ask.

The great calamity of Jingping is at hand — can the Supreme Sovereigns still fight?

" Yi Shisheng's countenance fell, and he said with bitter grief: "The era of the Supreme Sovereigns is already no more!

These senior brothers of mine have become corpse fiends; once they come forth, they will only stir up disorder. They can fight no more.

. . " At that very moment, coffin after coffin began to shake.

"You say my Master has given a command — do you bear his decree? " A deep, sinister voice came from within an imperial coffin as it asked.

Bai Qu'er held forth the decree of the Celestial Venerable Moon. The imperial coffin split open, and a great green hand shot out and seized the decree.
