The small vendors around Mother Tang's barbecue stall all stared at Wei Zhao in astonishment, wondering what his background was. They knew Zou Ruoming well enough, though. Seeing Wei Zhao strike Zou Ruoming while Zou Ruoming did not even dare to breathe a word and just slunk off, they all looked at Wei Zhao with awe. This was a far more fearsome character than Zou Ruoming.
"Tang... Tang Yun, are... are you all right?" It was the first time Kang Xiaobo had been this close to the goddess in his heart. Although he knew there was no way anything could ever happen between him and Tang Yun, just getting to exchange a few words was good. Now that the chance had come, Kang Xiaobo naturally did not want to let it slip. But from nervousness, he stuttered as he spoke.
Tang Yun frowned slightly. She had heard something over the past two days about Wei Zhao, the new third of the Four Young Devils on campus. Seeing that the boy from before was Wei Zhao and that Kang Xiaobo was his follower, wariness rose in her heart as a matter of course.
Wei Zhao's exploits had already spread. He had beaten up Zhong Yongliang as soon as he transferred in, and now he had slapped Zou Ruoming. Tang Yun feared him all the more, feeling he might not have any good intentions either, and that he had hit Zou Ruoming only to curry favor with her.
As for Kang Xiaobo, Tang Yun already took him for Wei Zhao's vanguard and had no good impression of him. Hearing him ask after her, she only said coolly, "I am fine."
Then she ran quickly to Mother Tang's side. "Mom!"
"Ah..." Mother Tang also saw clearly enough that it was Zou Ruoming pestering her daughter. While she felt relieved, she also feared Zou Ruoming's revenge. Yet seeing that Wei Zhao could bring Zou Ruoming to heel so completely, her thoughts began to stir again. In looks and bearing alike, Wei Zhao was far superior to that Zou Ruoming. If he were her daughter's boyfriend, that would not be bad at all, and at least there would be no need to worry about trouble from Zou Ruoming. Still, Mother Tang was only thinking idly. She did not want her daughter to suffer any grievance.
Kang Xiaobo could also see that Tang Yun did not much like talking to him, and he felt a little discouraged. Still, he understood the gap between him and Tang Yun, and that there was basically no possibility between them, so he stopped dwelling on it.
"Auntie, twenty lamb skewers, two lamb ribs, two chicken necks, two tofu rolls, and two bottles of beer!" Kang Xiaobo quickly got his bearings again and cheered up.
Although he had not won Tang Yun's favor, at least he had held his head high for once in front of Zou Ruoming. So what if you act so tough? In front of my boss, you still just get slapped in the face.
"Coming right up!" Mother Tang hurriedly answered. These two were even more formidable than Zou Ruoming, so she naturally had to serve them with care.
"Zou Ruoming, wait a moment!" Wei Zhao suddenly called out to Zou Ruoming, who had not gone far.
Zou Ruoming jumped at the sound of Wei Zhao's voice. He had no idea what Wei Zhao wanted now. Had he not already told him to leave? Why was he calling him back?
Although he did not want to go back, he had no choice but to do so. He could run, of course, but he could run from the monk but not from the temple. If Wei Zhao came looking for trouble with him later, he would not be able to take it.
"Lin... Wei Zhao, is there anything else?" Zou Ruoming turned around with a miserable face and asked.
"You haven't paid yet," Wei Zhao said lightly. In truth, Wei Zhao only felt that Mother Tang was pitiful, holding up the barbecue stall all alone with such difficulty, so he helped when he could. It was nothing but a small effort.
