Chapter 91 — Wei Zhao's Sensational Scores: Shen Yushu Could Not Help Shivering at the Paper Ruined Beyond Recognition by Gu Mengyao, Thinking It Was Too Cruel, Yet She Giggled Secretly at the Thought of Wei Zhao's Expression When the Scores Were Announced

Wei Zhao had never expected his own paper to fall into Gu Mengyao's hands. He simply assumed Shen Yushu had given him Gu Mengyao's paper as a joke, and thought nothing of it.

"Boss, whose paper are you grading?" Kang Xiaobo turned around and asked casually.

"Uh... Gu Mengyao's..." Wei Zhao said with some embarrassment.

"Huh? No way?" Kang Xiaobo's eyes went wide as he stared at the name on the paper in Wei Zhao's hand, stunned. "For real? How did her paper end up with you? Weren't she and Shen Yushu supposed to swap and grade each other's papers?"

"How should I know? This is the one Shen Yushu handed me," Wei Zhao said with a shrug.

"She must have handed them out wrong by accident," Kang Xiaobo sighed. "Boss, you really are lucky. Gu Mengyao's paper, so many boys in class would give anything for a chance to get close to it, and it landed right in your hands."

Wei Zhao smiled and offered no explanation... There really was no way to explain it. Was he supposed to tell Kang Xiaobo that Shen Yushu had done it on purpose? Then Kang Xiaobo would surely ask why Shen Yushu would do such a thing on purpose, and his awkward, undefined relationship with Gu Mengyao would inevitably be exposed.

Wei Zhao graded Gu Mengyao's paper with great care. Although Gu Mengyao was always fierce toward him, Wei Zhao knew that most of the time she said one thing and meant another. Especially that night when she had invited him through Shen Yushu to join them for dinner, Wei Zhao had seen that at heart Gu Mengyao was actually good, just a little willful like a pampered young lady.

Although Gu Mengyao's grades were good, mistakes on the paper were still unavoidable. As Wei Zhao marked her answers right or wrong, he also collected her mistakes on the back of the paper and wrote out detailed correct solutions, even more thorough than what the teacher was explaining from the podium.

To Wei Zhao's surprise, Gu Mengyao had even solved the final bonus question, using exactly the same method the teacher was teaching from the podium. It seemed the girl really did work hard as a rule.

Wei Zhao, however, knew another solution. He did not know whether the teacher had not noticed it, or simply felt that knowing one basic solution was enough for such a bonus question, but the shorter cut Wei Zhao knew had not been mentioned.

Naturally, none of the students present raised any objection. The bonus question had been set deliberately hard and beyond the syllabus. Those who could solve it at all were few and far between, let alone those who could get it completely right.

Wei Zhao wrote the other solution he knew on the back of the paper as well, then turned it back to the front and tallied the score. One hundred thirty-nine points, a high score indeed.

Quizzes given in class were always harder than the real college entrance exam. That was the custom at these key high schools. Only in this way could the students' overall level be pushed higher, and could they feel more pressure and urgency day to day.

After finishing the final bonus question, Teacher Liu, the homeroom teacher at the podium, told everyone to write the grader's name on the back of the paper and pass them forward from back to front. This was to prevent anyone from grading carelessly or recklessly.

Gu Mengyao gave Wei Zhao a big zero, then spitefully signed her name at the end of the paper. Hmph, even if that jerk Wei Zhao saw it, he would not dare come looking for trouble with her.

When it came time to record the scores, Shen Yushu picked up Wei Zhao's paper, stifled a laugh, and said to Teacher Liu, "Wei Zhao, zero points."

"Hmm?" Teacher Liu froze. Not only did Teacher Liu freeze, but the other students below who had been listening intently to the scores froze too. In years, no one had heard of a zero. Apart from papers voided for cheating, no matter how bad you were, even wild guessing could not earn you a zero.

"Who graded it?" Teacher Liu frowned.
