This was no longer playing hard to get. It meant Wei Zhao had no thought of any future with her at all. In his eyes, a big meal was nowhere near as practical as money in hand.
At the thought, Sun Jingyan seethed inwardly. Had this kid lost his mind? Did he really prefer those two green girls? Was she somehow inferior to them? For the first time, Sun Jingyan felt crushed!
She even felt a twinge of regret. Why had she picked such a man to work with?
"Of course," Sun Jingyan said, struggling to stay calm. "If it works, I'll give you a thousand yuan. How about that?"
"Deal." Wei Zhao nodded. Only a fool would turn down money. It cost nothing to take it.
Still, Wei Zhao realized he seemed to have a real gift for playing the 'human shield'. If he ever lost his job, he could open a company specializing in it and never go hungry.
Gu Mengyao and Shen Yushu had of course seen Sun Jingyan go over and sit at Wei Zhao's table, but the bar was too noisy for them to hear what was being said.
"Xiaoshu, what on earth is going on? Who is that woman?" Gu Mengyao frowned, glancing toward Wei Zhao's table out of the corner of her eye. She had to admit, though, that the woman was striking, so much so that even Gu Mengyao marveled inwardly.
"No idea, but it looks like she is hitting on Brother Shield, right?" Shen Yushu could not make out Wei Zhao and Sun Jingyan's conversation either.
"A hostess?" Gu Mengyao studied Sun Jingyan's bearing. She did not look like one of those cheap streetwalkers.
"Maybe." Shen Yushu was not sure either. "Let's watch. This looks like fun... Oh, look, a handsome guy, just a touch less handsome than Brother Shield, is coming over. Looks like he is going to make trouble!"
"..." Gu Mengyao followed Shen Yushu's gaze and sure enough saw a man walking toward Wei Zhao.

"He's here. You have to play along with me!" Sun Jingyan glanced nervously at Wei Zhao.
"No problem." Wei Zhao looked utterly unconcerned.
"Jingyan, I was just paying the cab fare, how did you get in first..." A refined, handsome man in a high-end casual Armani suit strode quickly toward them as he spoke.
Though his pace was quick, he never lost his gentlemanly poise. He was clearly a young master of good breeding. That sort of inborn air was hard to acquire later in life.
Wei Zhao, of course, was the exception, a versatile talent who could fake it. On a mission you had to slip quickly into all kinds of different roles without the slightest flaw, or what waited for you could be death.
Wei Zhao glanced calmly at the newcomer and said nothing, just as Sun Jingyan had told him beforehand that he need not speak. On one point, however, Sun Jingyan had not lied. Her name really was 'Jingyan'.
"Chen Tian, didn't I tell you my boyfriend was waiting for me here? What are you doing coming in?" Sun Jingyan frowned slightly.
"Jingyan, I think you know what your parents want. I came to Songshan City this time with their blessing. They asked me to come here and look after you." The man called Chen Tian did not get angry. He did not even glance at Wei Zhao, as if deliberately ignoring him.
"Chen Tian, I think it is you who does not understand. I have made it very clear that I have a boyfriend. If you are simply looking after me like an elder brother, I will gladly accept it. Anything more is unnecessary." Sun Jingyan replied coolly, "Let me introduce you. This is my boyfriend, Wei Zhao."
"Jingyan, I do not care whether you had a boyfriend before or not. After all, I was studying abroad for so many years, and you had every right to your own life," Chen Tian said. "But now, I hope we can start over. That is what my parents want, and what your parents want too. I trust you understand?"
