"Xiao Yi, I haven't seen you for days! Your Uncle Tang is all right now, so I'm back out with my stall!" Tang Yun's mother had wanted to chat with Wei Zhao a little longer, but when she saw him take out his car keys she asked, "Are you heading out?"
"I'm going to the hospital to pick up Tang Yun and check on Uncle Tang while I'm at it," Wei Zhao said with a nod.
"Then hurry along! Be careful on the road!" The moment Tang Yun's mother heard he was going to fetch her daughter, she was overjoyed. Nothing made her happier than seeing Wei Zhao treat her daughter well. "By the way, have you eaten anything?"
"Not yet. I'll figure something out later," Wei Zhao answered without hiding anything.
"Perfect timing. I have two grilled drumsticks ready. Take them and eat up, don't go hungry!" Tang Yun's mother quickly sprinkled seasoning over two roasted chicken legs and handed them to Wei Zhao.
Wei Zhao did not stand on ceremony. He took the drumsticks with a smile, nodded to Tang Yun's mother, got in the car and drove away...
After receiving her subordinate's report, Qiu Lingshan rushed straight to the First People's Hospital of Songshan City.
Qiu Lingshan rubbed her temples, feeling under tremendous pressure.
In less than a week, six vagrants, beggars or disabled people had already had one kidney cut out and then been dumped near the hospital!
This was no longer a simple criminal case. Qiu Lingshan suspected that a criminal gang might be behind it!
"How is it going?" As soon as Qiu Lingshan got out of the police car, she saw her subordinate Liu Wangli at the hospital entrance, pulling police tape across a corner.
"Captain Song, the victim has been sent to the emergency room, and I have men examining the scene. This is not the primary crime scene. The victim had his left kidney removed and was abandoned here. The crime is preliminarily estimated to have happened at around four in the morning, and he was probably left here at around eleven at noon, but with so many cars going in and out of the hospital, we haven't found any witnesses yet..." Liu Wangli reported with a bitter smile on what he had just found out. He knew Qiu Lingshan was under great pressure. This was the sixth case, and it was no joke! Although the higher-ups had not yet set a deadline for solving it, he figured it was only a matter of time.
Although the victims were all beggars, vagrants and disabled people, in Qiu Lingshan's eyes they mattered just as much! No matter who they were, she was determined to crack the case and bring the culprit behind it to justice!
After hearing Liu Wangli's report, Qiu Lingshan nodded wearily. "How is Liu Bojia?"
Liu Bojia was the victim whose entire family had been wiped out by that mad killer. Although Liu Bojia had never opened his mouth before, Qiu Lingshan had never slackened in her investigation of him!
At last she had found a rather suspicious clue. At around six o'clock in the evening before Liu Bojia's family was exterminated, a call to the police had been made from the public phone booth downstairs from Liu Bojia's apartment building.
According to the operator who took the call, a panicked man had said that he had discovered an organ-trafficking ring, that they had very likely already noticed him, and that he wanted police protection...
What he said at the time was vague, and when asked for a way to contact him he refused to give one. The operator could only have the responding officers call back the number of that public booth, but no one answered anymore, so officers were quickly sent to the booth. Finding nothing unusual nearby, they could only pull back.
The matter had been dropped just like that at the time, because no one had paid much attention to it, but later, when Qiu Lingshan went through all the emergency call records from that night, she discovered this clue!
