Chapter 1830 — An Explanation

In An Jianwen's view, only his own personal explanation to Gu Mengyao could produce this effect—and he had other business after this. This matter was merely the opening move to get close to her.
"Of course." An Jianwen nodded. "But there's also a video of the signing here—you can take a look..."
With that, An Jianwen opened the video on his phone of Gu Pengzhan and An Mingyue signing the contract. It had of course been edited; whatever Gu Mengyao should not see had naturally been cut out.
Watching her father's delighted, beaming face in the video as he took the money, Gu Mengyao knew that the whole affair had been entirely of her father's own will. Then this matter truly had little to do with the Ans... Of course, she thought so only because she had left the hypnotist entirely out of the account!
But what normal person would ever suspect that a hypnotist's shadow lingered behind it all? And even an ordinary hypnotist would find it hard to do the job so seamlessly! A hypnotist from the Fire Wolf Gang, of course, was another matter entirely.
The Fire Wolf Gang was made up of experts in human potential and its limits, and hypnosis was itself a form of suggestion that stimulates human potential. So if Gu Mengyao reasoned from a normal standpoint, it was impossible for her to suspect the hypnotist at all.
"All right... I believe it. This matter has nothing to do with you." Gu Mengyao was an upright, forthright person; faced with such evidence, she had no reason to doubt the Ans any further.
"It's all right. Without a clear understanding of this matter, anyone would suspect our family!" An Jianwen smiled bitterly. "I'll send it to your phone now!"
Gu Mengyao nodded. After receiving An Jianwen's message, she said: "I understand. This isn't your fault—only Daddy's, for being too impatient for gain. Is there anything else?"
"Here's a hundred thousand yuan. I heard Uncle Chu is in desperate need of money now, so I especially drew out half my private savings for you..." As he spoke, An Jianwen produced the hundred thousand yuan, though he added with some apology: "Because of what happened before, Father has been temporarily stripped of his position at the company, so my allowance has shrunk a great deal. This is all I could manage..."
"This..." Much as Gu Mengyao wanted the money, she did not want to owe An Jianwen anything. A hundred thousand yuan—in the past she would never have given it a thought, but now she desperately wanted it in hand. Yet to owe An Jianwen a favor over a hundred thousand yuan was something she was unwilling to do.
"Oh, just give it to me!" Shen Yushu plucked the money from An Jianwen's hand in one motion and declared, taking charge: "I'll take it!"
"This..." Now it was An Jianwen's turn to be at a loss. His purpose in producing the hundred thousand had been to curry favor with Gu Mengyao—not that he expected her to feel indebted, but at least she might think him good to her!
But for Shen Yushu to take the money was another matter altogether. He had no need of Shen Yushu owing him a favor; the farther this little troublemaker stayed from him, the better—he couldn't dodge her fast enough! Yet now that Shen Yushu had taken it, he certainly couldn't snatch it back; that would not only cost him face but make Gu Mengyao think his giving was insincere, and he would lose more than he gained.
So, having thought it through, An Jianwen said readily: "It's all the same, whoever takes it. It's for Uncle Chu either way—it's my small token of care."
"Thank you." Gu Mengyao had not taken the money herself, and somehow she felt better for it.
"By the way, Yaoyao, the amusement park now belongs to our family as well, but my uncle is planning a second round of development on the land around it. Would you be interested in joining?" Only now did An Jianwen reveal the main purpose of his visit.
"What do you mean?" Gu Mengyao frowned. "The amusement park is your family's now. What does it have to do with me?"
