Chapter 5 — How Is This Like Finding a Spouse?

Though Songshan City's No.1 Senior High was called "No.1," it had in fact long since become a private school; the name simply hadn't been changed when it was acquired. And Gu Pengzhan's Gu Group was one of the school's three major shareholders.

No wonder he could be casually placed into this high school even though he had never attended elementary school. Wei Zhao had never been to school himself, but he knew from the internet how difficult it was for children with rural household registration to go to school in the city.

"Alright, I'll do my job properly." Having briefly finished reading the materials, Wei Zhao nodded.

"Of course, Gu Mengyao's temper may not be the best, but the girl is decent at heart." Gu Pengzhan gave a wry smile. "I'm confident that someone as capable as you will get along with her very well."

Get along? Wei Zhao wasn't counting on getting along with that young miss. It wasn't as if they were dating--what use was there in being on good terms? But aloud, he said, "I'll do my best."

Gu Pengzhan seemed to see through Wei Zhao's perfunctory reply. He smiled faintly, then called out toward the office door: "Uncle Qing, Yaoyao is about to get out of school. Go pick her up, and take Mr. Lin along to get familiar with the place."

"Mr. Gu, you can just call me Wei Zhao, or Xiao Yi is fine. Don't call me Mr. Lin--it sounds a bit awkward to me," Wei Zhao said.

"Alright, I'll call you Xiao Yi then. After all, I'm your elder, so you won't be at a loss. And you needn't call me Mr. Gu--just call me Uncle Chu." Gu Pengzhan nodded, not lingering on the matter.

Wei Zhao nodded and went downstairs with Uncle Qing, riding the elevator all the way down to the parking garage on the building's first basement level.
