Wei Zhao stretched lazily. These were extraordinary times, and with the two girls heading out so late at night, he could hardly just sit by and do nothing, even though they had said nothing about taking him along. He would follow them from a distance and that would be that.
With that in mind, Wei Zhao prepared to get out of his school uniform and into something else. His First High uniform was far too conspicuous, and out on the street at night it was bound to draw stares. If Gu Mengyao spotted him, that would be awkward.
He dug out a casual outfit he had bought cheap from a street stall over the weekend and stripped off his school clothes until only his underwear was left. He was just about to dress when the bedroom door was pushed open. "Ah!" Shen Yushu had never expected to find Wei Zhao naked in his room, and she jumped in fright, nearly screaming out loud. Luckily her hand was quick, clamping over her mouth, while her other hand flew up to cover her eyes, though through the cracks between her fingers she sized up Wei Zhao's build. Not bad, he even had abs... Well, she told herself, she had already seen everything down there anyway, so another look now hardly mattered. Still, she could not let Wei Zhao catch her peeking, so keeping her eyes covered was necessary.
"You... how did you get in here?" Wei Zhao was startled too. He was right in the middle of changing when the door was pushed open. If he had not known there was no danger in this villa, he would have lashed out with a kick the moment the door moved.
He hurriedly snatched up a pair of pants to shield himself. Thick-skinned as Wei Zhao could be, having Shen Yushu stare at him like that was embarrassing.
"I came because I have something to tell you, of course!" Shen Yushu said with a red face. "Put your pants on, quick! Are you running around naked indoors?"
"No, I heard you were going out, so I thought I would change and follow behind at a distance." Wei Zhao hid nothing from Shen Yushu. This girl loved a commotion at times, but in most matters she knew right from wrong and would not act recklessly.
"Ah? You know we are going out?" Shen Yushu was a little surprised, and she even dropped the hand covering her eyes. By then, however, Wei Zhao had already pulled his pants on quickly and was only bare-chested.
Even so, it was a mortifying sight, and though Shen Yushu was curious, she was too embarrassed to stare. She thought to herself, well, once Sister Yao marries him, I can look all I want. Hee hee, ha ha...
"I caught some of what you were saying just now." Wei Zhao nodded and pulled a cheap T-shirt over his head. He still had too few clothes of his own, and he ought to buy a few more when he had time.
"Oh, then I won't bother explaining!" Shen Yushu said, pressing a bunch of keys into Wei Zhao's hand. "Here, this is the garage key to my villa, and this is my car key. Sister Yao is sure to drive in a bit, and without a car, what do you think you are, Superman, that you could keep up on foot!"
"Oh? All right, thanks." Wei Zhao had not expected Shen Yushu to hand him her car keys.
"I am afraid Sister Yao will go crazy and run off somewhere dangerous..." Shen Yushu said, a little embarrassed. "Then you will have to step in as our fighter!"
"..." Wei Zhao broke out in a sweat. It seemed this girl was still just in it for the excitement, afraid she would have nowhere to show off...
"I'm off. Sister Yao is picking out clothes, and I slipped out while I could. Go get the car first!" With that, Shen Yushu left the room.
Wei Zhao finished dressing by then, took the keys Shen Yushu had given him, and hurried out of the villa, striding quickly toward Shen Yushu's villa. Shen Yushu's villa was easy to recognize, standing right across from Gu Mengyao's, separated by only a single street.
