Chapter 276 — More Ominous Than Auspicious? "Heh... You Must Be Hungry..." Wei Zhao Smiled. Only the Rich Could Afford Shark Fin. Faced With Delicacies Every Day, Who Could Still Stomach Plain Meat? And Shen Yushu Only Found It Tasty Because She Was Starving. Otherwise, on an Ordinary Day, Shark Meat Could Never Compare in Tenderness to Common Table Fish Like Carp and Crucian Carp.

Most fishermen, after catching a shark, cut off only the fins, the so-called shark fin, and throw the shark back into the sea. Cruel as the practice was, it proved the point well enough: shark meat tasted poor and no one wanted it.
Many of the cheapest fish balls on the market were made from shark meat, for the simple reason that it cost next to nothing.
As for shark fin, Wei Zhao had no appetite for it. At a moment like this, a mouthful of solid meat was far more practical.
Shen Yushu ate little. Although she found the shark meat delicious, she could manage only two pieces before she could eat no more. She sat to one side, holding her small belly. "I'm stuffed, but it was so good. Arrow Brand, let's carry the rest of this shark meat home and let Sister Yaoyao have a taste!"
When she had something good, Shen Yushu never forgot Gu Mengyao. It was plain to see how close they were. For all their constant bickering, the sisterly feeling between them was genuine.
"That will have to wait until we can reach Uncle Qing." Wei Zhao took the battery out of his phone and laid the phone on the sand to dry in the sun.
If the moisture on the main board evaporated before rust could corrode it, the phone might still work for a short while. Once the board was completely eaten through by rust, it would be finished for good.
Wei Zhao had once heard this from a friend, and he meant to give it a try.
Someone had met with an accident at the bungee valley in the amusement park. Ordinarily such a matter would not fall to the criminal squad, nor was it a grave or urgent case. But because Shen Yushu was involved, and with orders coming down from the director himself, Song Lingshan had no choice but to lead a team to the park in person to investigate the whole affair from beginning to end.
While searching for witnesses from the time, she also called the coast guard to ask for support in searching the nearby waters.
But to tell the truth, with both feet and waist bound by ropes, even a good swimmer who fell in like that would have little hope of surviving. Bound all over by cords, how was one supposed to swim?
When she heard that Wei Zhao was among them, Song Lingshan could not help but pause. That man was in it too? Although Song Lingshan did not think much of Wei Zhao, the man had after all helped her twice, once in catching the bank robbers, and once in seizing Black Panther.
Both times had been solid, undeniable feats of merit, and since Wei Zhao wanted none of the credit, it had naturally fallen to Song Lingshan, leaving her with an odd feeling about Wei Zhao that she could not quite put into words.
Gratitude was not quite the word for it, yet it was certainly the last thing Song Lingshan wished to see, that harm should come to Wei Zhao.
"Captain Song! The coast guard reports back. No sign of the fallen in the water within a one-kilometer radius. Do we widen the search, or..." The speaker was Liu Wangli, captain of the First Squadron. Song Lingshan had brought his First Squadron with her today.
"Let me ask for instructions..." Song Lingshan sighed. If the two had not been found within a kilometer, then either they had already been carried farther away, or they had already sunk to the bottom of the sea.
Widening the search would likely do no good. To keep looking would, for the most part, be wasted effort.
Director Chen's line was busy. No doubt the pressure he faced over this matter was immense. The one who had fallen into the water was Shen Yushu! The precious granddaughter of the Chen family. If she were to die just like that, the consequences were all too easy to imagine...
Song Lingshan then dialed Yang Huaijun, who had been formally promoted to executive deputy director, overseeing the criminal investigation unit and the criminal squad. Apart from Director Chen, Yang Huaijun was Song Lingshan's direct superior.
