Chapter 31 — A Profound Lesson

The Blossom Guardian

"Sister Yaoyao, Wei Zhao really is quite formidable after all, isn't he?" Shen Yushu said to Gu Mengyao standing beside her.

"What does it have to do with me whether he's formidable or not?" Gu Mengyao was shaken as well. If Wei Zhao's kick that sent Zhong Yongliang tumbling yesterday could be put down to a sneak attack, and his business in the restroom today to despicable and shameless tricks, then what he had just done could only be genuine skill.

Gu Mengyao knew very well what sort of person Kang Xiaobo was. Although she had never spoken to him, boys of his type were precisely the timid, trouble-fearing sort who ran far away from any fight. And so, the only one fighting alone here had been Wei Zhao.

She looked at Gao Xiaofu and Zhang Naipao lying on the ground, both groaning as they clutched a single spot on their bodies. Which was to say, Wei Zhao must have taken the two of them down with just one move.

"He's qualified to serve as your shield now. After what happened today, I'm sure Wei Zhao's name will really ring out at school, and then which one of those flies that pester you will dare come close?" Shen Yushu said with a giggle.

Gu Mengyao gave an "hmph" and said nothing.

After putting Gao Xiaofu and Zhang Naipao down, Wei Zhao patted Kang Xiaobo on the shoulder. "You all right? Heh heh."

"I'm fine." Kang Xiaobo snapped out of his shock. He had not expected Wei Zhao to be so fierce, taking down Zhong Yongliang's two ace fighters with a couple of moves. A true master indeed never showed his hand. "Bro, you're amazing."

"Zhong Yongliang, I really didn't want it to come to this. But you forced my hand. There was no choice." Wei Zhao walked toward him, looking perfectly innocent.

Zhong Yongliang, naturally, was not someone to be scared out of his wits. Wei Zhao might be tough, but he had seen it all, too, and it was merely a bit of sly trickery. While Gao Xiaofu wasn't paying attention, Wei Zhao had kicked him and snatched the chair leg from his hand, and then, catching Zhang Naipao off guard, had swung it at him.

Thus, Zhong Yongliang did not believe Wei Zhao was really all that capable, reckoning that he was mostly just lucky. He reached out a hand, and a dagger was now in his grip, which made him feel a little more settled inside.

"Wei Zhao, save that useless talk. If I don't kill you today, I won't be able to hold my head up in this school anymore." With that, Zhong Yongliang flashed the gleaming dagger and stabbed at Wei Zhao.

Wei Zhao had not expected Zhong Yongliang to resort to such an extreme measure. This kid acted with absolutely no regard for the consequences. If a murder were to happen at school, then no matter how capable his family was, he would still be in for a world of trouble.

Wei Zhao decided to teach him a profound lesson; otherwise, if anyone but himself had been standing here today, they might well have been stabbed. As Zhong Yongliang's dagger came thrusting at him, Wei Zhao grabbed his wrist.

By now Zhong Yongliang was nearly insane. Even with his wrist caught, he kept twisting his body, trying to use his momentum to drive the dagger into Wei Zhao's flesh, all the while howling crazily, "Wei Zhao, I'll f***ing kill you!"

In the instant Zhong Yongliang charged over, Shen Yushu could not help covering her mouth. She knew what Zhong Yongliang was capable of, and she didn't know whether Wei Zhao could dodge such a blow. She wanted to cry out and stop him, but it was already too late...

However, when Wei Zhao caught Zhong Yongliang's wrist, Shen Yushu finally breathed a sigh of relief. And Gu Mengyao, standing off to the side, seemed to heave a slight sigh of relief as well.

Wei Zhao increased the strength in his grip. Zhong Yongliang suddenly felt as if his wrist had been clamped by an iron vise, tighter and tighter, the pain making his entire arm tremble. His palm opened involuntarily, and the dagger dropped onto the rooftop with a clatter.

Wei Zhao grabbed the hair of the utterly incredulous Zhong Yongliang, dragged him roughly to the edge of the rooftop, and gave a hard shove, pushing half his body out over the edge...

"Ah—!" Zhong Yongliang let out a miserable scream. He felt his body give a sudden lurch and drop, and a cold sweat instantly broke out on his forehead. For the first time, the fear of death closed in over Zhong Yongliang's heart. He did not want to die.

Only when half his body was dangling outside the rooftop did Zhong Yongliang breathe easier. His lower body had not been thrown out over the edge along with the rest. But even so, he felt his clothes were already soaked through with cold sweat.

The hands Wei Zhao held on Zhong Yongliang's legs pushed forward once more. Zhong Yongliang shuddered all over. No longer able to care about his dignity, he wailed in a tear-choked voice, "Wei Zhao, I was wrong! Let me go! Don't throw me down! I was wrong, I'm really wrong—"

Wei Zhao said nothing, and again pushed Zhong Yongliang's legs forward.

"Brother Lin, Brother Wei Zhao, I beg you, spare me! I don't dare anymore, I'll never dare to provoke you again—" Zhong Yongliang's voice had gone strange with terror, and his whole body was shaking nonstop.

"I admit it was wrong of me to kick you yesterday." Wei Zhao said in a detached tone.

"Brother Lin, you were right to kick me, it was my fault. If you want to kick me from now on, kick whenever you like..." Zhong Yongliang was thoroughly scared out of his mind.

"If I said I was wrong, then I was wrong. I'm not one to use my power to bully others." Wei Zhao's voice turned cold, and the hand holding Zhong Yongliang's right leg suddenly let go...

"Ah—!" Zhong Yongliang had not expected Wei Zhao to let go the instant he said he would, and he screamed at once, feeling that his life had come to an end. But after wailing for a long time, he realized he was still suspended in midair and had not fallen after all...

Zhong Yongliang felt a warm current surge between his legs. He had wet his pants.

"Fine, fine, yesterday you were wrong, but I forgive you. It doesn't matter, it doesn't matter..." This time, Zhong Yongliang did not dare speak carelessly, only saying what Wei Zhao wanted to hear.

"I hope you remember what you said today." Wei Zhao gave a sudden yank, pulling Zhong Yongliang back from the edge of the rooftop and flinging him to the ground.

Zhong Yongliang felt as though he had just taken a trip through the gates of hell. His whole body was soaking wet, as if it had just rained on him.

For Wei Zhao, killing Zhong Yongliang could not have been simpler. But he was well aware that this was a school, not the war-torn North Africa. He could not kill Zhong Yongliang—at least not in a place as public as a school.

"Let's go." Wei Zhao smiled at Kang Xiaobo.

"Holy s***, Wei Zhao, you're way too fierce! You actually brought Zhong Yongliang to heel!" Kang Xiaobo had never expected Wei Zhao to be such a ruthless character, and his admiration poured forth like the rolling waters of the Yangtze surging east: "I, Kang Xiaobo, have decided. From now on, I'll follow you. From now on, you're my boss."

"Don't be so impulsive in the future. Fighting is not a good thing. It's fine to be brave, but don't go charging in blindly." Wei Zhao smiled.

"Got it." Kang Xiaobo said, a little embarrassed. "Boss, there's a girl over there looking at you..."
