Chapter 155 — So Scheming, I Must Say Wu Chengtian Is a Very Scheming Man

The Blossom Guardian

He wanted to pull a dirty trick on Wei Zhao without letting Sun Jingyan see through it, the very type of man who is rotten in secret.

"You don't mind if I sit here?" Wu Chengtian said as much, but his hands had already dragged over a chair and he had seated himself at the table with Wei Zhao and Sun Jingyan.

It was a table for two, but adding one more chair made little difference.

With Wu Chengtian joining them, the atmosphere at the table turned distinctly strange.

Sun Jingyan and Wei Zhao were strangers to begin with, so at that moment neither dared to talk too much, afraid that too many words would give them away and let Wu Chengtian see through them.

Wu Chengtian, meanwhile, was still sulking over his failed attempt to embarrass Wei Zhao, thinking bitterly to himself, if Sun Jingyan were not here, I would crush you.

"Hehe, where do you make your fortune, brother?" Seeing that no one at the table was speaking, Wu Chengtian found a topic on his own, meaning to sound out Wei Zhao's background first! He was utterly depressed that day, having flown all the way to Songshan City thinking he would be paired off with Sun Jingyan, only to have his first suggestion brushed aside when she used having a boyfriend as an excuse.

He had assumed she was only fobbing him off, and naturally he did not believe her, so he kept pressing her until Sun Jingyan grew thoroughly impatient and claimed her boyfriend was waiting for her at the bar as they had arranged, never expecting Wu Chengtian to follow her here so shamelessly.

Thinking fast in a tight spot, Sun Jingyan had grabbed Wei Zhao to play the part.

Wu Chengtian had only just returned to the country and knew nothing of Sun Jingyan's life in Songshan, so when he suddenly saw that she really had a boyfriend, he did not dare decide whether it was true or false and could only probe carefully.

"No need to make a fortune." Wei Zhao's impression of Wu Chengtian had sunk to rock bottom. He had not really wanted to get mixed up in his business with Sun Jingyan, but this fellow had tried to put him in his place without asking right from wrong, so Wei Zhao did not stand on courtesy either.

No need to make a fortune? Wu Chengtian froze, not quite understanding what Wei Zhao meant by that. Could he mean his family was so rich he never needed to earn money?

Yet his clothes looked nothing special, all cheap street-stall goods. Could this kid be playing the fool to catch the wise?

"Let me introduce myself, my name is Wu Chengtian, and Jingyan and I are childhood sweethearts." Wu Chengtian nodded at Wei Zhao and held out his hand once more.

"Let's skip the handshake, you nearly crushed me just now." Wei Zhao showed no intention of offering his hand this time. "All right, you have finished introducing yourself, so can you leave now? Do you know that sitting here you are already blocking my view of the show?"

Hearing Wei Zhao's words, Sun Jingyan frowned and shot Wu Chengtian an annoyed look. The Wu family where Wu Chengtian belonged was famed for skill of the hand, and his pair of iron hands had reached perfection, said to be handed down from the Shaolin Iron Sand Palm.

Sun Jingyan knew the Wu family's background, so she naturally knew how strong Wu Chengtian's grip was, and at Wei Zhao's remark she understood at once that Wu Chengtian had played a trick during the handshake!

Damn it! What scheming! Wu Chengtian's face turned ugly and embarrassed in an instant as he cursed Wei Zhao inwardly for being far too scheming! He had said nothing when he was pinched before, acting as if he could take it! If he had screamed and shouted when he was pinched, then even if Sun Jingyan knew he had used a trick, she would still have marked Wei Zhao down as a man so weak, how could he protect his woman? A man who cries out over a little pain, how could she trust him with her life?

But Wei Zhao had done nothing of the sort, enduring it quite naturally at the time, only to bring it up suddenly now, which was plainly revenge against him! Yet Wu Chengtian could do nothing about it, since he himself had started the second handshake. Wei Zhao had already taken a loss once and swallowed it in silence, and he was no fool to take another loss, so refusing outright with a little cold sarcasm was only normal!

In this way, although Wei Zhao exposed his conduct, he did it by borrowing the chance of the second handshake, without any air of deliberate tale-bearing at all.

"Mr Wei, you are joking, my grip may be a little heavy... I am used to it, and for a moment I failed to hold back when shaking hands with an ordinary man..." What Wu Chengtian meant was clear enough, namely that Wei Zhao was only an ordinary man who was not worthy of Sun Jingyan at all.

"Oh, so that is how it is!" Wei Zhao nodded. "It seems I misunderstood Mr Wu, and to show my apology, I have decided to shake hands with you once more!"

As he spoke, Wei Zhao took the initiative to hold out his hand.

"Hmm?" Wu Chengtian was slightly taken aback, never expecting Wei Zhao to agree to a handshake again. What game was he playing? But whatever the game, since Wei Zhao had gone so far, he could not lose face either, so he stretched out his hand and clasped it with Wei Zhao's.

"Ow..." An incomparable crushing pain shot through Wu Chengtian's hand! Looking at Wei Zhao's smiling face, Wu Chengtian knew he had been paid back by this kid!

Caught with no guard up at all, Wu Chengtian had his hand pinched by Wei Zhao and let out an instinctive cry!

For how many years his hands had never hurt like this... which was why Wu Chengtian cried out! Of course, he himself did not think so much of it, blaming the pain entirely on Wei Zhao catching him off guard with a surprise counterattack, so that with no defense prepared he had fallen into the trap and his hand hurt so badly...

Yet he never stopped to think, however hard an ordinary man squeezed, could he pinch him into such a state?

But anger had already gone to Wu Chengtian's head! He never imagined that he, the rightful heir of the Wu family's Iron Hand, would have his hand pinched by some unknown nobody! It was a downright disgrace!

Wu Chengtian was about to strike back when Wei Zhao had already let go of his hand and was looking at him with a puzzled face. "What is it? Did I hurt you? I did not use any strength at all?"

Sun Jingyan gave Wu Chengtian a rather contemptuous look. What was this supposed to be? Wei Zhao said you pinched his hand sore, and you screamed in return. Did you expect me to believe Wei Zhao pinched your hand sore too?

But who would believe it? You are the Wu family's Iron Hand, could an ordinary man pinch your hand sore? Sun Jingyan did not believe it for a moment. She felt more and more that this Wu Chengtian was utterly false. When they had little contact before, she had thought him a polite and courteous man and treated him like an elder brother, but ever since he began to pursue her, the more she looked at him the more displeasing he became.

Damn it! Wu Chengtian truly wanted to slap him across the face and beat Wei Zhao up. Was this kid not vicious beyond measure?

"Wu Chengtian, do you not feel your behavior now is no different from a clown's?" Sun Jingyan said, her delicate brows knitted as she looked at him. "If Uncle Wu knew what you have done, he would surely be very disappointed."

Scolded by Sun Jingyan until his face flushed red then white, Wu Chengtian shot Wei Zhao a hateful glare. Fine, kid, you have guts, I will remember this grudge today. A wise man does not fight a losing battle, and Sun Jingyan was clearly resentful toward him now and leaning to Wei Zhao's side, so Wu Chengtian simply stopped meddling and rose to his feet. "Sorry to have disturbed you today, another day I will play host to you both. I have business, so I will leave first..."
