Chapter 420 — Ambush and Interception

The Blossom Guardian

"Fine, I'll be right over..." Zou Ruoming nodded and agreed at once, but inwardly he was thinking that if only he could bring Uncle Yan along to teach Wei Zhao a lesson — with Uncle Yan making a move, thrashing that brat Wei Zhao would be no different from play.

Of course, Zou Ruoming had no idea that Brother Black Panther, now crippled and locked up in prison, had himself been a skilled fighter of the Yellow rank. Had he known, he would never have thought any such thing.

Hearing the excitement in Zou Ruoming's voice, Zou Tiandi sighed faintly and hung up, thinking to himself that this youngest son of his was simply vicious. Had his original strategy been wrong? Letting the elder son study properly while the younger went out into the world might have been a decent arrangement. But the mistake had already been made, and now he could only make the best of it...

Uncle Yan did not usually carry a phone, and there was no telephone in his room either; he was a veritable recluse, a sage above the world. Otherwise Zou Ruoming would not have had to go fetch him in person. But Zou Tiandi did not mind. A skilled fighter always had something a little out of the ordinary about him; for a Yellow rank fighter like Uncle Yan, being different was only natural.

And Uncle Yan's reasoning was sound as well — he was a wanted fugitive, so keeping himself hidden and rarely going out was the right thing to do, sparing him from being spotted by anyone with sharp eyes.

Zou Ruoming hurried out of the school, flagged down a taxi, and sped off toward the villa in the northern suburbs.

Uncle Yan knew Zou Ruoming. Hearing that it was Zou Tiandi's instruction, he asked no questions, immediately put on a hat with a low brim, and hurried out the door with Zou Ruoming.

Uncle Yan was a Yellow rank fighter who drifted between his sect and the wider world, long engaged in robbery to raise funds for his sect. But one job went wrong and the police put a bounty on him; by sheer luck Zou Tiandi saved him. So he remained in Songshan City and promised to do three things for Zou Tiandi before leaving.

Two of those things had already been done. Now came the last. Once it was finished, he could go, and go back to his robberies.

"Beep-beep..." Zou Ruoming's phone received a message from Zou Tiandi, with a license plate number and the model of a van written on it.

Zou Ruoming passed the information to Uncle Yan, and the two of them then staked out the road any car leaving the police station would have to take.

At the police station, Qiu Lingshan did not make things hard for Wei Zhao. She probably knew that Wei Zhao did not give a damn about her, and that he had come at all only for Tang Yun's sake.

So she simply took a statement from Wei Zhao, and then let him and Tang Yun go.

"Sister Lingshan's people aren't bad at all. Why do you always call her that... that name..." Wei Zhao calling Qiu Lingshan a brain-dead chick left Tang Yun rather baffled. Wei Zhao was far too bold, daring to call Qiu Lingshan a brain-dead chick; and strangest of all, Qiu Lingshan got angry but never retorted.

"Hah, she's too much trouble, always coming to me for help with one thing or another." Wei Zhao shrugged and said no more on the subject. Suddenly the jade pendant on his chest gave two throbs. His expression changed and he slowed the car: "There's danger!"

"Danger?" Tang Yun was startled, but before she could ask anything, a figure drifted over and came to a stop not far in front of Wei Zhao's car.

Early Yellow rank? Wei Zhao's heart stirred slightly, and he knew the man's level of strength at once. But he had no idea why an early Yellow rank fighter would show up here.

By the look of it, the man had come for him. But who had sent him? Li Cihua? Obviously impossible — his late Yellow rank fighter had already been killed by Wei Zhao's hand; sending an early Yellow rank one now would be no different from sending him to his death. Surely the man was not that stupid.

Zhong Fabai? That should be impossible too — Brother Black Panther had been put in prison by Wei Zhao.

Jin Gubang? That was the only possibility Wei Zhao could think of... but the very next moment, Wei Zhao discovered, to his surprise, that he had guessed wrong.

The man who leapt out behind this early Yellow rank fighter was not Jin Gubang, but Zou Ruoming!

And when Zou Ruoming saw Wei Zhao and Tang Yun in the car, he was stunned for a moment, then nearly split his face grinning with joy.

He recognized Wei Zhao's van, but he could never remember Wei Zhao's license plate. Earlier, Uncle Yan's sharp eyes had spotted Wei Zhao's car coming first, and he had leapt out ahead of him. Only now did Zou Ruoming realize that the man his father had sent him to intercept was none other than Wei Zhao!

In that instant, Zou Ruoming was like a cosmos exploding within him; every inch of his body brimmed with agitation and elation. He had just been worrying over how to deal with Wei Zhao, fantasizing about enlisting Uncle Yan's help, though he knew full well that was basically impossible. And now, all at once, it had come true!

"Haha, Wei Zhao? So it's you?" Zou Ruoming roared with laughter. "Bet you didn't expect this, did you? You never thought you'd live to see this day, did you, classmate Wei Zhao? I told you not to put on airs with me — this time I'm going to kill you! Damn you, fighting me over Tang Yun, who the hell do you think you are! Leave Tang Yun here today, and I'll spare your life!"

Wei Zhao stared at Zou Ruoming, dumbfounded. Was this creature really so naive? He had brought along one Yellow rank fighter and thought himself invincible? Never mind early Yellow rank — even against a late Yellow rank, Wei Zhao had the strength to put up a fight!

Ever since he had cultivated the first layer of the Xuanyuan Yulong Jue to perfection, Wei Zhao's strength had become comparable to that of a late Yellow rank fighter, and he could even fight across ranks against an early Mystic rank fighter!

"Have you been overdosing on brain-dead pills?" Wei Zhao looked at Zou Ruoming the way one looks at a fool. "Even a brain-dead person isn't as bad as you. You're not just ordinarily brain-dead, you're the very soul of brain-dead! That brain-dead chick is ten thousand times smarter than you."

"Heh..." Tang Yun of course knew who the brain-dead chick was, and hearing Wei Zhao say it, she could not help laughing, which left Zou Ruoming staring blankly at her. His urge to make Tang Yun his own only burned fiercer — a prize this fine was utterly wasted on Wei Zhao!

"Brain-dead chick?" Zou Ruoming did not know who that was, but he knew it was certainly no compliment. He gnashed his teeth: "Wei Zhao, it's useless to say anything now. Since you refuse to know your place, I've no choice but to be rude. Uncle Yan, finish him! Leave the girl for me!"

Zou Ruoming was guilty of forging the imperial edict — Zou Tiandi had only told him to teach Wei Zhao a lesson, but Zou Ruoming had changed it to killing Wei Zhao.

"Smack!" Wei Zhao slapped Zou Ruoming across the face again. "I already told you to stop scheming after Tang Yun. Have you no memory, or are you deaf?"

Zou Ruoming had never expected Wei Zhao to be so arrogant as to slap him across the face right in front of Uncle Yan. The pain made him howl: "Uncle Yan, make your move, finish him for me!"
